Cut down a few cottonwood trees for a friend and found this inside the big one.

It’s over 40” wide, So I cut a couple thick cookies and took them home.
He wants the stump shorter and says I can have all the cookies I want. I think I will take a few more.

I just about finished this Sycamore cookie from one of my own trees.

Really happy with how that turned out and how little checking it did. I hope the cottonwood does as well. Finished with Minwax Tung Oil Finish.

The sycamore looks great. I didn't cookie any of mine but my 9'x 24-30" x 2" sycamore slabs are all dried and ready to work now and looking forward to making some tables and counters with them. You'll have a little more trouble with the cottonwood I think, really want to keep those cookies weighed down and sealed well. Again, didn't cookie any of my big cottonwood but it did start drying really fast and any loose smaller pieces I had got completely twisted and useless.
