I appreciate all your replies, if its white oak or hickory I'm very good. Have gotten plenty of red and pin oak but this would be the first white oak for me. Very little hickory in my past also so I'm good with either. From all the great info I've gotten here its 3 yrs before I attempt to burn any so I don's know how it coals. Tx again, great place for a novice to get an education.
 
"Looks like oak" was my first though, of course plenty of people have already mentioned that. If you let it season for three years it'll cook you out of where ever you're burning it. 2 years should be plenty and it actually looks like you might get by with only one summer of baking.
