I have a very nice and clean old Sears 3.7 chainsaw.
Model 917.353760 and I am in need of a coil.
It has no spark but still has great compression.
It has a wabash brand coil on it with the numbers 7377.
I saw the thread the other night about this very saw and thought I'd finally get out the old one i bought a couple months ago and try and get it going.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
This website is awesome!
Thanks in advance.

I'll have to check, I KNOW that my neighbor has one but I am not sure if he would want to get rid of it.

Coil

I think I may have one for ya.See if you can come with a homelite 410 saw for parts. Read my thread for details.I'll look in the garage and see what coil it is.I know it's a 3.7,so should be it.

thanks for all the replies, but i got my saws mixed up.
I have two similar craftsman saws.
The one that I thought i need a coil for is actually missing the points.
So I am actually looking for points or if anyone knows if any others can be made to work.
I know points are probably a long shot.
I dont beleive i have the model number correct, as I looked it up on sears.com and they all list electronic igniton. for the 917.353760 & 720-721-761 saws. i got the model number from a saw just like it on ebay.
(my bad)
sorry about all the confusion.
thanks for any help in advance. Mike

The pic you psted is an electronic coil. The black module above the coil proper is the electronics.

Now I am confused

i'm confused also, i took the flywheel off, and there is an area where points would mount, including the screw holes.
I will trust anyones advice that it is electronic and go with the coil
So i guess back to my original question, anyone got a coil?
please pm me. or email at [email protected]ks Mike

So you need the coil that is in the link I posted.

Yes there is a place for points in the case but they are not installed on the "Solid State" saws

yes that is the coil i need. let me know how much with shipping, and let me know if you have a paypal account. thanks so much! Mike

Just a thought....before you pronounce that coil dead remove the two handle screws and take out the screw that holds the kill wire to the plastic stop lever. Pull it out carefully (you need to fish the eye terminal through the case) and let it hang not touching any frame metal. These saws have a failry rugged ignition and most often vibration wears a hole in the kill wire insulation and kills the spark. Also remove the coil mount screw to the rear of the saw and check the coil ground connection clean the ring connector and the coil laminations and reinstall the screw. Then check for spark.

Yup..you could do that as well....and take your chances. Shipping on a whole saw is quite a bit more than the single part and people can try to come to the site and get the information they need and not use sponsers and eventually the sponsers will stop offering advice for free and everyone can purchase new big name saws.

I may have it wrong but I do not think that any sponsers on this site are out to rip anyone off.

thanks for the advice, i have already taken the switch apart, still no spark and i have had the coil off and the ground looks good.
thanks. Mike

So you tryed the coil with the switch wire pulled out of the saw frame?

I will need to replace the plug wire and test this coil before I send it out so it will be a day or two
