Gary builds a mean echo 501

I have a question for the knowledge base here. In this video the saw is making a popping sound in the cut. What's causing this? The reason I ask is I have an MS361 that does the same thing. My assumption is it's slightly on the rich side, but maybe a timing issue? Thanks.

Being I am into helping others no matter what brand of saw they run and not belittle them like some in this thread like to do. :dizzy:

501 should be unlimited coil. 361 should be too.

I went to ask Buxton for ya. Because I have a 490 that does that and always thought it was hitting the limited coil in it or plug.
Sometimes it dont do it. 🤷‍♂️

What Gary thought on that video. = 501 Probably a little rich and just sounds like that on camera. I’ve never heard one of those break up or detonate.

Love the cult like following of the 351 353 346 saws. Makes them easy to sell for me with their 25 year old technology.

Believe it or not some of us love the old technology even if on new saws sold today.

A morning laugh I made for a friend that buys most of my 346's etc from me.

No one belittled anyone.

Just setting stuff back so when I cut this NE 346 out of the stable someday. Lot of stuff NLA for 346 now.
Their trying to force folks to their 12lb PHO 550 MKII. Runs great but weight and balance lacking.

I just bought this OEM NLA decal un US for NE one to set back for this NE 346 since it is no longer a e-tech version. Had to order from overseas.
Never know when someone else might want everything.

Even did the ole Dan Henry muffler mod on it for no cost. One everyone was doing way back on 346's 372's.

Matter of perspective I guess, I'll keep my 12lb. MKII over any of the other 50cc saws you've mentioned

I like the 1st 550 OE over the newer. They weighed same as NE 346 and felt great in the hands.

I ran some 550 MKII and they lost all that trying to make them better. In case 12lbs PHO now. But they do run great if you want heavy 50cc.

550 OE out cut NE 346 and OE 545 cut even with the NE 346.

Ported MKII 550 and ported 394 n pic I got to check out.

Why we can choose any saw we want without some bonehead in this thread trying to belittle folks for their choices of a chainsaw.
They cut wood and thats all.

PHO OE 550.

Here we go plastic clamshell 50cc in 12lb range. Cousin saw to the 450 in a cheaper version.

Weight pic saved from others testing them out back then too.

Think one I tested back in 2013 was 169 shipped it my door.

Yet somehow the MarkII outsells the Echo offerings by a landslide. If they were truly groundbreaking guys would be fighting over them like the last Tickle Me Elmo on the shelf.
