I put a post in large equipment but think I should have put it in here. Check out the below website and look at the crane attachment and tell me what you think. I think it would make short easy work on those limbs that are right over a house that don't give you much room for rigging and swinging.

Tell me what you think.

My concern is tip-abillity.

I wish it said something like at 20 ft, height and fully extended it load capacity is this for the LS 190 and this for the ....... At least give you an idea

I think if you just use it for a rigging point and only swing it out of the way letting the rope lower it it will eliminate the tipping problem. As long as you don't get carried away.

How do you like my mouse drawing in Paint :)

If the picture isn't showing up, what it shows is the rope wrapped around the trunk of a tree up to the top of the crane end, through a large pulley and down to the limb and tied off. It basically put a lowering branch where there isn't one.

Questions

One nice thing with this option - you can rent out your machine to other trades
(of course I would always send my operator)!

It would seem to me - this would eliminate having to have the boom truck on site and I could get bobcat in back yard.

Could you make a stand for the climber?

OK I just saw the TELE-SAW 21 what do you guys think?

Or is this just wishing to make life easier and faster and save my climber?

If this TELE-SAW 21 really works seems you could trim a ton of hangers fast?

wouldnt this double the load on an already low capacity boom?

at more of a vertical angle the boom will be stronger as apposed to the horizontal weight testing that the chart shows. So I don't think that is going to be an issue.

It's good for line clearance where nobody cares about such things as branch collars or bark tears. It's a limb whacker that can easily damage otherwise healthy trees. Sorry, but I was perturbed when I saw them displayed at the TCIA expo a couple years ago. There is no way it can be used for 'tree care'.

Looks scary to me. I can see this easily being overloaded. Don't think it's one of those items that would really be of use all that much either.
Just my 2cents

I'm with Skwerl i ran a jarraffe for a r/w company, always hated the way you had to make cuts, rips , stubs . Just doesnt do what I want it to do , the way i want it to do it. The crane part might be ok, and to be fare the saw might work in some circumstances, (with a customer that doesnt care ), I also wanna say the jarraffe is an awsome machine, line up 15 bucket trucks i'll beat them like a drum by the end of the day with a Jarraffe (Trimming for power lines)
