Kind of a long shot asking this question here but I thought it worth a try. I've been looking at getting a crane the last year or so, been working with cranes a long time but never really paid any attention to the cranes themselves. I'm looking at a short wheelbase all terrain 4 wheel drive 4 wheel steer crane for tight spaces. The last 6 months or so I've been working with a guy who has a Kobelco RK160-2 and I've been pretty impressed with it. A bit more boom would be nice, and with the fly jib on the lift capacity isn't brilliant, but the thing is so compact and so steerable compared with the older cranes I've used that it makes up for it just in terms of where it can go. The 4 wheel steer and short wheelbase makes a huge difference.

The only other crane I've seen that compares to it on paper is the Tadano TR200M. I've never actually seen one in the flesh but they look comparable on paper at least. Does anyone on the forum have experience with this crane or could compare it to the Kobelco? They're both similar priced at around AUD$200k for a decent example in test and ready to go.

don't know how service and parts are for the two brands in australia, which is a big factor in crane ownership. however, have a lot of experience with tadano products and they are pretty bulletproof. also they are extremely user friendly.
