I tore down my other mac yesterday for a complete cleaning. dose any body know what type of sealant is best for the crank case and oil tank. it appeared to be a clear silicone on this one. the last one i did had a reddish color silicone. i only opened the oil tank on that one but this one needed to come all apart and i know that the seal must be good on the crankcase.:greenchainsaw:

I use Permatex Ultra Copper. Have used this stuff on all the motors I have built since it came out. None of them leak. Including the blown Big Blocks.

I just used yamabond (made by yamaha) for a Mac 130 and it worked outstanding. I had tried like 3 other products and they all leaked from the gas/oil ... I've heard good things about permatex motoseal also, I just couldn't find it in my area.

Same here, Yamabond worked great.

Yamabond

Yamabond is the best you will find. It does a good job of sealing cases with two or three times the area of a saw CC. The light gray clor is also not to objectionable.
