I have two log crusier sticks made by Conway Cleveland Corp. and was wondering if any one could tell me how they are used.

The one with the handle
I believe, is used to measure board foot volumes of logs. The flat rule is used in measuring standing timber.

is called a biltmore stick. It is used to estimate the diameter at breast height of trees. If memory serves they assume a 25" reach.

Ah, memories.....if I had a nickel for every log I tallied in 14 years 
Nice log rule you've got there, Jonathan, the swell handle is for the Real Sawmill Guys who have lost all the feeling in their hands the metal end, we used mostly for scraping dirt off the ends of the logs. Makes a good back scratcher, too. There were a few of them around the mill, after you clean the pine pitch off with diesel enough times they're not good for much.
