I was innocently walking through a farm store Tuesday looking for ripper shanks and spotted a CS-550P, marked down from 519.00 to 299.00 and an expired 20% off everything below it.

The first guy I talked to pulled the sign off and said it was over, but would ask the manager, the manager came out and asked it the sign was still hanging there, I said not now your guy took it. He went back to his office and said I could have it for 239.00. was that ok?? It was...

It was chained to the shelf, never started., Got the box, scrench and manuals.
However reading on here, I think I need to open up the H screw before I even start it. I have removed the limiter caps before on other saws, but only after warranty was out. I'm not going to wait five years.
Is there a way to remove the limiter caps and put them back on? Or should I buy new limiter caps to put on in case it has to go to the shop?
The local shop for Echo close to me goes out of their way to not warranty anything, he would not overlook tampered limiter caps even if it was the starter that failed.

Brand new CS-550p for $239, now that's a score! Let me be the first to issue you a proper... YOU SUCK!!!

Sounds like your local Echo dealer won't be much help if anything were to go wrong anyway, so tune it yourself or find an independent who you trust.

Thanks, I guess. I am rather proud of myself.
I think my son in law may be coming along with the chainsaw thing. He saw it in my shop and said why did you buy another saw, you already have 19.
Next breath he said " you wanna sell it"

Not only remove the limiter, but also open the muffler a little first. Then it should run with the rest in it's class.

I have to agree, GREAT BUY!!!! Congratulation!!!

Several years ago I bought my wife a tiny two stroke tiller for her flower bed at Home Depot. It wouldn't run, took it back and they gave me another one it would only run half choked. It let it sit for months and my wife wanted to till a flower bed. I took the limiters off and it turned it out till it sounded right and it runs fine. I don't understand why they do that. I wonder how many they took back???

I also have an excellent wife, I had dropped her off at Penneys, I picked her up and borrowed her Iphone to confirm that it was a good deal. Then I asked her if she minded if I bought a new saw, she saw how many do you have? I said a lot. She said well you don't blow money on anything else, so I think you should get it.
