the other day i was feeling unspeakably stupid after cutting a limb off on the the wrong side of the sling i had attached to hold onto to swing it past the ruby lace japanese maple under it that it then landed on. well i had a horrible head cold...sheesh. but this cartoon cheered me up :)

If it makes ya feel any better, I did that last year and cleaned a mirror off my truck, and a gutter off the garage. :D

And to make it worse.....

It was my DAD'S garage.

Yikes!

I love those cartoons. I think my favorite one might be the "I can only please one person a day, today is not your day, and tomorow isn't looking good either."

i love demo jobs! i got to a removal job a while ago and looked at the tree and thought...hmmm kinda a low bid...but whatever. so i'm piecing apart the tree and notice a couple fellows watching pretty close so i shut my saw off and ask if i can help them, they say, we're the demo guys! well! undercut-backcut-whos your daddy enormous crash and the house is half demoed. good times. :p

Gord, Just be very sure that the demo is really scheduled. Can you imagine two practical jokers coming up to your removal and saying "we're the demo guys-you can just drop it on the house." CRASH!! "Man! Larry he fell for it! Let's get outta here!"

I gotta remember that one!

I had a job to top several 40-50 ft. trees to 10 ft. high. The bull dozer operator would take it from there. The lot had an old house and a couple of old Buicks, late 50s, lots of rust. Everything was going to be demo'd, I didn't need to cut up the pieces I dropped or haul it away. I only needed to get the trees to the height where the dozer operator felt comfortable pushing it over. I swear I dropped 10 ft. long, 12-15 inch branches on the cars and house expecting them to get smashed. I only managed to put shallow dents in the car roof and all the branches I dropped on the house just slid off the roof. I know if this was an expensive new house or a new car that I hit it would be demolished, but when I tried my best to destroy the old house and car, nothing happened. What gives??? :dizzy:

i had conferred with my boss before i went ahead. but yeah that would be a good one. i think i would faint dead if i was stupid enough to screw up like that. :blob2:

We dropped the spare of a mighty sweet gum onto some church steps once.
My boss had the trunk tied to the back end of a small pick up truck. No one was in the truck when I pointed for them to drive. I was under the impresion that I should never turn off the saw or stop cutting. That was before I had proper hinge training. My boss wasn't mad at me at all. Ya know if I had just been trained properly it would have been avoided. I learned the proper technique not long after that and taught hing cutting to my old boss. I still couldn't beleive it when it happened. I did the research to find out how better control, ya know?
