After two years of sitting, we finally had time to cut an english walnut stem and a stump that we had pulled out of someones future horse corral. The wood had more defects and bug damage than I had hoped for. The long hold time before milling didn't do it any good. It looks like there's been a change in the way pics are displayed and I am going to rely on a combination of me getting lucky and them showing up the way they did in my last post. Here goes.

Here's the boards from the stem. They are all 5/8 except for the center 3 which are 1 inch. They have a lot of defects and periferal bug damage. I'm not going to get as much usabel material out of them as I had hoped for.
