i am trying to find out the correct/reccomended depth to file the tiestrap(cutter-depth-indicators?). what should be the gap between the top of the cutter and the indicator/guide in front of it? i am currently running RM2-20"-3/8" on a 440. i had to take a good amount off the cutters after hitting a rock that was inside a stump that i could not see and i want to file the depth accordingly.
thanks

On my stihl 066 I usually run a .030 or .035 and it works well with a 20 inch bar on my 36 inch bar I run .025 or .030 On a ms 440 I would stick with a .030 when i had my ms 440 it work well with that set up.

thanks for the info. is an appropiate way to measure the gap laying a straight edge accross the top of 2 cutters, than using a feeler gauge,.... till i get the measuring gauge?
