There has been lots of suggestions and discussion on what type, or brand, or whathaveyou regarding sealants for cylinders, when removing gaskets, or making your own.

the name Permatex has been bantied around a bit... it's readily available up here, and many others aren't.

so... I thought I'd go to the maker.
sent an email, got a response.

Lots of products will work. I use Threebond because I have it around for sealing the cases on my snowmachine engines.

but my point was "Permatex" is readily available up here, whereas numerous brands you guys have access to are not.

I'm sure anaerobic would work, but it's some pretty interesting stuff to work with. Like sticky red jelly. It cures in the abscence of air and dries harder than an old booger.
