Dang squirrels got into the upper boom of my bucket truck, made them selves a home for the winter and snacked on my hydraulic lines. Set me back 4gs. Now every time I see a squirrel I Think of that commercial with the dang woodchucks. I hate you dang squirrels! It's a clandestine act by the squirrels because I've taken down so many of their home. They will pay. Until then can anyone tell me how to keep them out? :angrysoapbox:

Maybe try stuffing some rolled up chicken wire in the openings to the booms; they won't be able to chew thru that. Or kill a squirrel and wrap him up in the wire before you stuff it in. Maybe that will scare them off.

You need to get rid of all of them that is the best way.

Dryer sheets are supposed to keep them out. We zip tie a few under the hoods of anything that stays outside to keep them from chewing stuff up. I had around a 500$ bill before from squirrels. They chewed up some wires in my dump truck.

That's a good suggestion. I bought a new car awhile back and it sat in the garage for a few weeks just long enough for mice to build their nest of acorns and things in it.

This time it didn't happen I put a few bars of soap in the engine compartment.
They stayed away. My friends think I'm crazy but I don't like mice, snakes, squirrels
or anything chewing on my wires.

Opps almost forgot they did chew all the wiring on a $10,000 lathe in my garage I'm going to have fun rewiring that it's all from Europe. They do things different there.

Good idea. :msp_thumbup:

Cayenne pepper, they can't stand it, especially if they get it on their front feet or near their mouth or nose. When mixed with birdseed, they will leave bird feeders alone.

OK, not a proven method but an old timer told me that moth balls will keep them away. Say they cannot stand the smell of it. I was also told by him that this will keep deer away from young trees and keep them from horning saplings... I have not tried this myself though so take it with a grain of salt. Might be worth giving a shot though.

They keep everything away.Guess Im an Old Timer

They chewed up the wires on my skidsteer trailer a couple years ago. I now have a no squirrel zone around my shop. I recommend a .22 rifle and a .410 shotgun.
