Davey was doing some line clearance cutting by my work this morning. Too my supprise they where using 290's. I asked them if they where having any problems with them and they said no with the exception of the oiler going bad on one. It seems that maybe the 029 isnt as bad as everyone thinks. Still weighs too much for its output though.

i can see where some companys would use them, at $300 per saw when you have idiots working for you (all you could get at the time:mad: ) and you know they are going to tear them up any way then a 029 probably isn't a very bad choice:Monkey:

I have replaced alot of oilers on that frame of saw...

Our power company uses 009s and 011s , worked on one tonight as a matter uh fact..

Yeah I gotta take mine apart tonight to find out the problem with the oiler on my 029...What could go wrong with it besides getting plugged the dust..??

Later Rob..

Rob, i have a friend that brought me a saw to fix for him, said it wasn't oiling right. so i took the saw apart and guess what???
the clutch drum had some how been rubbing against the oil pump and cut a groove in it and the oil was leaking out the side!!!

They would be perfect for that use. They probably replace them every 2 yrs, why bother with a pro saw that will get trashed and run the dirt anyways. I would buy them Poulans

Ryan,

Mine is'nt leaking out the side it just does'nt seem to be pumping out very much oil,I have tried to turn the adjustment screw both ways and nothing seems to happen??What could be wrong with this??

Later Rob..
