One of the local blueberry and cranberry farmers who I've gotten a lot of wood from through the years has another score for me. These trees were casting shade on some bogs he has recently replanted. The guys dropped them and chipped the brush. I just had to pull up alongside them, cut and load. Mostly maple with a little gum (yuck!) mixed in. Will be about 6 cords total. This load took just under 2 hours with a 17yo doing most of the loading minus the big ones on the back.image.pngimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

That's great! The sweetgum will burn OK once it is separated into pieces that kinda sorta look like splits...
I cut it to 24". Last year I had a guy with an OWB that wanted 5 cords cut to that length and if it was under 10" in diameter he didn't want it split. I'm hoping he calls again this year but if he doesn't, I will burn it in my OWB. The big rounds will only need to be split once which I will do after a few months so it's easier than when fresh cut.

nice "Gimmies!"... 6 chords - wow! you are right... a very decent score... sometimes I count my scrounge scores not in cords... but in stix! lol ;)... really... but of course often much more and bigger, too. but when the scrounge score is only house or two down from your place... hard to look a gift horse in the mouth... lol... enjoyed seeing all the 'stix'....

haha, here is my latested score... not much more than 6 stix... lol. all oak. and my 'workhorse' branching saw... Echo CS-271T... some kinda fun saw! have a nice day... post more, post often... show us splitting all that and the 6 chords... 'all this' firewood went immediately for one of my almost daily... camp fires... :)

It's all relative. I sell 100-125 cords a year.
