Inexperience calling. Landed a contract with 24 big spreading lime trees. Access is v difficult because either:

1) There is a central trunk but the desired access & chop points are way out on trunks which rise steeply from low down
2) There is no central trunk to get a good suspension point.

The trunks often rise steeply maybe 50ft with only hairy twig growth. Any advice or must I give the job away to a bucket operator?

I don't have a bucket, but I rent one or sub the job out on trees like the ones you describe.

Welcome, sounds like you might be over your head, curious why you would bid a job that it appears you were not equiped or prepared to do. Hopefully there is enough $$ to sub it out or rent the equipment you need to do the job safely. Learn from the experience and be careful.

Thankyou both for advice.

I did confess to inexperience at the outset eh?

I think there may also be some value in gaining access from adjacent trees, but this gets complicated with need to keep ropes on two or more trees at once.

Criss-crossing branches are also a problem here for potential hangups. Fancy a holiday down here?!

There is a business outside of Istres that rents equipment, and they did have a 55' bucket for rent there Feb of last year. This could possibly help. Try to contact Thiery DuMont- I will try to find his address for you, as he has lots of contacts that could possibly help.
