Typically I’m not a fan of doing so, however if the piston is worn, the bore will also be worn and replacing the o-ring may not cure it.

I had this issue with a C1Q carb (off a fs85) and decided to delete the accelerator pump.

In the past I have had mixed results doing so. If it doesn’t work, it tends to load up and often stall on return to idle.

Today I tried sealing the drilling from where it picks up fuel (a hole aside the main nozzle ).

Then I also adjusted the metering lever height by about 0.5mm.

I have tested the machine for an hour / 1 full tank and it worked incredibly well. Once or twice I found it was just a touch rich for a second returning to idle, but it then returned, never once stalled and the machine functioned just like it should.

Hope it helps someone - the replacement carbs (oem) out here are $130 Australian. So it’s worth a try.

Key take away, if you decide to delete accelerator pumps, do so at the source of fuel intake and remove the additional fuel that wants to feed that accelerator pump / compensate by lowering the lever a bit

Hope it helps someone.
