The earliest of 066s did have the solid fuel tanks, this was when they were marketed here concurrently with the 064. The 064 was never marketed as a Magnum. The Magnum models have similar features: Larger diameter cylinder bolts, larger transfer and exhaust ports, solid oil pump housing that does NOT use an external hose ( oil is routed through the crankcase through passages ), Intellicarb, teflon-coated aluminum base gasket, larger oil seals, and compression release. The 044 and MS-440 models marketed as "Magnums" were brought up to meet the same standards as the 046 Magnum ( larger head bolts, better oiler, better transfer ports, teflon base gasket, larger oil seals, bigger jets in the carb, larger fuel filter, decompression valve ). The modern "Pro" models incorporate these same features. However, I think Stihl is catching up to Husqvarna in some regards ( oiler, compression release, transfer port design ). The 064 was dropped quickly due to the popularity of the 066 Magnum ( and higher price which meant more profits for Stihl ).

Coincidentally, the 038 Magnum ( 52 mm bore ) has the same piston as the 046 Magnum, but the casting of the 038 piston is slightly heavier. The rings are a littler better though.
