Can someone tell me if the Stihl Woodboss, Farmboss and the Rollomatic E bars are the same bar with different badges? I want to pick one up for my MS 270C and want to make sure I get a decent bar. Or is there a different/better bar I should be looking at for around the same money?

And how about the chain, should I get Stihl oilomatic or yellow or green?

Will be cutting oak, pine and poplar trees.

Thanks!

Stihl basically makes 2 bars:

E is laminated non replaceable tip
ES is solid with replaceable tip.

There are lightweight bars, harvester bars, narrow tip bars, hard nose bars etc but the two basic styles above are what interest most people. 'Farmboss' etc is just marketing crap. Means nothing just like the current 'Magnum' stickers

Yea, all the Woodboss, Farmboss, etc is the same bar which is the Rollo E.

The other bar and better bar is the Rollo ES. Differencr in the two is the ES is solid steel and has a replaceable tip. The E is laminated and no replaceable tip.

If you ever intend to have more than one length of bar or more than one saw, you should consider buying ES "yellow" branded bars because they all use the same replaceable nose. "Green" bars all have noses specific to the bar. It's cheaper to maintain only one nose type.

EDIT: also, the supposed "safety" margin offered by the "green" bars is MORE than offset by simply learning how to use a saw safely. A "safety" bar will never protect you from the Laws Of Physics.
