I just like to kill 'em. One of my customers just called couple days ago and wants to kill at least 10. Killed one last Thursday, an ugly 80 footer. One of my favorite jobs is killing palms so I'm pretty happy right now.

Tio, you need to chill out a bit bro'.
You live in Kansas, not many palms there I'll bet.
Sitting under a palm tree is the whole point of being on vacation in the tropics.
Have YOU ever tried to persuade a tourist on the vacation of their lifetime, on the beach surrounded by coconut palms, warm breezes, blue water, and sun, 'Um excuse me, please don't sit under the palm trees, they are lethal life threatening objects that will drop 10lb bombs on you and may seriously maim or kill you', just another caring service from the hotel to ensure you enjoy your holiday to it's fullest! Enjoy your day."
Well, we in the tropics don't do that either, HENCE this interesting discussion on the pros and cons of various methods of nut removal.
Keep it up chaps.

Actually, Kansas was once covered in various species of Palms.

All waving gently in the breeze.

One of our biggest exports was Coconuts and we had a side industry exporting Coyol wine to Honduras for the Semana De Las Santas week celebration.

Then Ekka came to visit. . .

We grow wheat now.

Reminds me of the guy who applied for a logger's job.

"Got any experience?"

"Yeah, I've logged the Sahara Forest."

"You mean the Sahara Desert?"

"Well, yeah, that's what they call it now."

Nah son, there a'int.

But I haven't always lived in Kansas.

Fifteen years in various portions of Central and South America.

Dredging gold, cutting big ass trees, having fun, and laughing at tourists.

Fluent in Spanish, passable in both Portuguese and Italian, can read French but just can't get that mush-moth accent right enough to talk it.

Nope, never tried.

I just always figured that if they was not smart enough to not sit under a tree that periodically drops ten pound doo-dads on your head. . . then they probably weren't smart enough to live.

Survival of the fittest thingy type thingy goin' on there, ya know.

I'm from the East Coast and haven't encountered many Palms. I would love to have some feed back on climbing Palms. I moved out to Southern California and I can't seem to get the grasp of these trees. I'd really like to know the tricks to tackling these trees. Please help in any way you can. Thanks ahead of time to all of you guys.
I have dozens of em in my garden, here is how I climb em, I take my saw, no scarf, drop em, and walk along whilst they are down!! I hate em , messy
In the Pacifil islands they climb em from young age, but then thats what they do, Good luck
