I plow and love it, I'll have 3 trucks and a skidsteer with plows this year. I like being out in the middle of the night, when it's nasty, then I'll have a guys out selling in the AM ready to do some tree work. Best of both worlds, just gotta make sure to get some ZZZ's before any big trees.

We don't have snow here, but can a 4X4 truck move snow easily? Is it like pushing loose dirt? I would think a heated cab skidsteer with at least 50hp would be better than using a truck.

a 3/4 ton truck is plenty heavy, a one ton is better. Bobcats and tractors can move snow, but its different than plowing. with the BC loader you treat the snow like dirt, just push and shovel. but with a truck, the trick is to impart enough energy into the mass of snow that it begins to behave like a liquid. Avalanches do this. anyway you kind of get a running start and ram into the snow, if you hit it with enough force it will "liquify" and follow the angle of the plow off to the side of the road or driveway or whatever. Bottlefed can prolly explain better n me, i don't plow, but i do like to watch the effect.

Basically a good plow will kinda "roll" the snow to the side. Bobcats have there place, I'll run mine this year. I've only used 2 fourwheelers, and they sucked. Don't remember what they were, but I think they'd only do well up to about 3-4". Being that I have a lot to plow this year, we'll probably never see any snow... seems to be how my luck goes.

Picked up a contract today with a local builder. I'll be doing all of their removals/tree care, powerwashing garages and driveways of new houses after building is complete, and cleaning debris from new houses and doing final cleanups before they're sold. I'm also hoping to get their mowing contract next year. Hopefully these new projects will keep me busy through the winter. What a blessing this could be for me.

I'm NOT hauling any gravel! I hauled a bit of gravel for a friend of mine today. We trade tree work and such for welding and mechanicing. He asked if I would take a bit of gravel to his house from his jobsite in my chip truck. Sure. So on the way down the interstate the fines are tinkling out the tailgate through a 1/4" gap. By the time I figured it out and got off the road, my wife called to tell me that people were calling the number on the side of the truck to complain. It sucked.

Talk about bad advertising.
