Maybe a stupid question, but...
My 262xp need a new 16" 3/8 058 bar and I was going to try a GB power-tech.
But GB home-page says it's 59DL and my 16" 73lp chains are all 60DL...
Wtf is that? Can someone pls enlighten me?

They seem to take less drive links than other bars. I have a 20" Carlton made by GB and it is only 70 drive links, not 72 like Oregon. The bar also measures 19" from the clutch cover, and perhaps they are slimmer. They must measure them differently, but I believe the DL counts are correct.

Ah, GBs and DL counts.

For whatever reason, they are a bit different in their DL requirements than other competing bars. Their stated DL counts tend to be correct on the shorter bars. On the longer ones the stated length is occasionally off, usually requiring for fewer DL than stated. But in some instances, the count makes no sense at all - my 24" large mount Stihl bar asked for 90 dl (most others want 88) but in reality required 91 to even have a fighting chance of fitting the chain on to the bar. Go figure.

Best advice: buy the bar and a test loop. If everything fits, buy or spin the rest of your loops at that point.

Think I'll buy some other brand. I only buy loops and I've never seen a 59DL chain for sale around here. GB is a bit cheaper than oregon pro-lite and, from what I've heard, just as good.

GB confusion

What part # did you get? Or are you looking at?

The driver counts look like they were copied from Older Windsor counts.

UHL16-58SG should be 59 driver
UHLX16-58SG should be 60 driver

Hope this helps

Scott
