Do they make stones for dressing bars or just files?

Do you think a stone would grind better and last longer? Did this with a big file but seemed to wear it out fast. New to dressing bars. I’ve put a log of hours on this bar and never touched it

That doesn't look too bad as long as it is square. I use a sanding disc on a slowed-down table saw to dress and square the tops. Yes, the hardened edge is tough on files.

Polished it up with the da sander and found this crack. Hopefully it doesn’t get worse

You have a controller inline on your power cord? What kind of sanding disk do you put on it?

I need to get one of those, not so much for bars, but they do seem handy for that and other things. For my light bar dressing needs I just use a file and try and hold it square.

Picked up one of these combo belt/spindle sanders near new at a yard sale down the street for $100 from a retired cabinet maker. Mainly for woodworking but be useful for this kind of thing as well.

I use a cheap disc sander. I think it was about 40 Euros brand new, but it has an adjustable table. It's important to dress the bar square.

All of the handheld tools use a specialty file, as far as I know.
