Do you think there is a demand for firewood processing?

Well, I'd like to be doing close to a hundred but I'm looking at saving my back, that's why I was looking at something with a log lift. I already do every process by hand as you can imagine...saw, split, stack in truck to deliver, stack at customer's house when sold. That processor sure makes things look easy...

Then get a skid steer and a super splitter. That is what I have. The skid steer makes a world of difference. I just pick up the tree or top and cut it standing straight up. Make a basket for the front and you can do all your loading with it. Split right off the dump trailer and everything is waist high.

Also with a skid steer you have a machine to do other work that pays. Drilling deck/post holes, clearing brush, grading yards, digging pools, etc.

A super split is a bit under 3k. You could split 100 cords in 150hrs working time. That is splitting it small. If you split bigger you could go faster. Hire this out and it leaves you a lot of time to do other things.

what he said.
i have a skidsteer and a processor.

if you have a skid steer, you can pick up a bunch of rounds at once to waste height, you can use forks to hold hte logs up to cut into rounds, you can push the split firewood out of the way.

you can do the same with a small tractor with front end loader.
