Does this handlebar look right to you guys? This looks kinda like an 045/056 full wrap on here, and the seller informed me that this bar came stock on this saw from factory. The 046/460 IPL of course doesn't show it, and I've not seen one like this on a 460. The seller then informed that it's a "full-wrap" handle and that they're popular in his area, and that this saw has been out for for 12 years now, so who knows?

Thanks,
Take care all,
Jeff

Jeff - something does seem a bit weird about that handle. I do like the different angles for various hand positions but where it attaches to the drive side is what is throwing my chain - pun intended. Does appear to be a clean saw and from the pics - in decent shape.

FYI

I bought a saw from this guy recently. The saw is pretty much as he described it. He is so so on shipping but you can forget about communicating with him via email after the sale.

Well, I'll have to modify what I just posted a bit. It took a week, but I did hear from him a few minutes ago.

All our firesaws have that handle on it, let me i cant remember the name off the top of me head.

OK guys, misunderstanding on my part. I got another email from the seller informing me that it's a USA Products bar that he puts on the saws he sells. The first email between him and I led me to believe that he was implying that it came with the saw that way, and he'd been selling them for all this time. Too bad too. Had I had that info on the first email, I would have bought that saw this morning. Oh well, there's other saws out there.

Thanks for the replies guys,
Jeff

fishhunt, Visionerre is cool and might be able to put together another one that would fit the bill. John

That'd be nice, but I think I ticked him off with starting this thread. It was a misunderstanding of what he'd told me this morning via email, and I think he'd rather of had me ask him more details than to put it on here and ask. No harm intended, but harm perceived. My appologies.

So, anyone selling an 046/460?

Take care all,
Jeff

Somes members do not like their ebay ID's revealed so I will not reveal his but I can tell you I think he is straight forward and a upstanding member. There is nothing wrong with the handle shown. I guess it is just nature today to mistrust what you are told. It is a common handle for those who cannot move to the other side of a tree. Although nothing like the west coast we still have a lot of bluff cutting where the wrap is helpful. As for a 046 I guess I could sell you one if you really need one.

Thanks for the offer Bill, but I need another chainsaw like I need a hole in the head. I'm just wanting a new 460, and I've got my tax refund in my pocket. That's all. And for the full wrap, I am familiar with it. That's what spurred my question to him in the first place. At first glance, it looked like a full wrap from an 056, and not anything like a stock Stihl full wrap. I've got a full wrap on my 056 Super, and love it. If I could put one on my 361, I would. I asked him about it, the pure wording of his email led me to think he was kinda BSing me. He put "full-wrap" in quotes, and to me, I read it like it was coming from someone who wasn't familiar with saws, thus my question here. I went to work, and came home to find a follow-up email from him, fully explaining the manufacture, source, history, etc of the handlebar. He's got a saw shop and everything! I'm guessing he banged me out a quick email this morning, and later when he had time, emailed me again all the good info about it. It was how I read it, and not a reflection on him or his knowledge. I have absolutely no doubt about his upstanding credentials. I emailed him back, appologized for any confusion or misunderstanding and told him if he put another one up for auction, I'd be interested in bidding or Buy It Now from him.

I'll say it again, it was my misunderstanding his wording, and not him at all. And to be honest, with all the links to ebay on this site, I didn't think twice about posting it here. I didn't mean to imply anything less than decent about him, and will think twice before posting an ebay link again.

Take care all,
Jeff

This thread has gone longer than I planned. Who knows, it might turn into another "I cut some big a$$ trees today..."
