I have the option of buying a new chipper and stumpgrinder from a tree business who is selling out. He has a 1999 rayco 1625 super jr stumgrinder with 418 hours with trailer for $3225. The chipper is a 1991 mobark 290 300 6 cylinder gas for 3225 also. what you guys think?

I payed 2K for a 630B with a blown engine and 5K for a Morbark 200 with a 80HP ford diesel. I don't know how well the 300-6 works in those, but like as mentioned before, if your just starting out you can't beat that deal with a stick.

I have been searching for quite a while and sounds good to me. Have to go look at them hopefully saturday. How does a mobark compare to say a vermeer of brush bandit?

Take this with a grain of salt

I have had many great experiences with Bandit, I would buy one, they are awesome machines. I have limited experiences with Vermeer, not bad mind you, but many that I've talked to say to stay away from them unless you need a stump grinder, which they make well. I have NO experience with Morbark other than their tub and horizontal grinders which are AWESOME! I hear their chippers are almost as good as Bandits. Just my two cents.

imo morbark makes the best chippers:clap: id take a bandit over a vermeer. i also think you are getting a good deal on the buy.

Take the stump grinder if you need it... It will make some $ though it'll be a PITA on big stumps...
With the economy as is.. you might be better off holding out for a diesel chipper... hey , but take the gas for a test run if he'll let you... If you are removing big trees, then get a big chipper... diesel with a winch... better to have the right machine from the get-go, even if you have to pay a bit more for it... or you could buy the gas and re-sell it if it is really such as good deal as is said here.

it doesnt have an hour meter but yes it is an auto feed. Anyone have any idea what it weighs. I will have to haul them home together on a trailer if i get them. The stump grinder is around 1300 pounds.

Morbarks are heavy, that's why they last forever. It's probably somewhere around 6k lbs but I am just guessing.

Buy both if they aren't too beat up. If you decide to sell them, you'll likely be able to get at least what you paid for them if not more.

I personally did that once with my first chuck-n-duck. Never again. Couldn't go above 55 or it would start wagging so bad you'd have to damn near pull over to get it to stop. But i think the biggest problem with that is there is no tongue wieght. The Morbark on the other hand you might be able tow ok. I haven't towed mine behind my pick-up yet to tell you for sure. But if you can fit the grinder in the back of your truck adn the chipper will tow good, treevet has the right idea.

gthe stump grinder with the trailer is 10 feet long not counting the tongue. I should get them both on a twenty foot trailer.
