Yes and no. I hauled mine on an 18+2 trailer and it took up alot more room than i thought. Mainly because of where i had to position it on the trailer so i had enough tongue weight etc.... I had it loaded on backwards and with the chipper tires just ahead of the front trailer axle, the pintle hitch was almost at the end of the trailer (minus the 2 ft beaver tail) As long as you can fit the grinder alone in the pick-up you should be grinning.

well I made the 1000 mile round trip and ended up getting the stump grinder for $3200. Chipper had some drum issues. He even had a year old stihl 460 magnum and 200 t limbing saw. I got them both for $500. Long day but not bad.

Man! Very good deal on the saws! You did really well. This guy must have been pretty desperate to get out of the biz. Congrats!

Drum issues? Be very careful as that baby will destroy if it has too many "issues".

Used a chipper once, rental, that threw the blades and the entire drum needed to be replaced along with the bearings and blades. What a mess! Rental company told me they paid around three grand to fix. Found out the motor had been replaced not long before that issue so it was relatively new so I decided to buy the chipper from the company and today ..... that's what I still use.

Moral to the story, take the chipper to have the drum looked at and possibly factory replaced. Might cost a bit but you got got the chipper cheap and in the long run, it will pay for itself over and over and you can use it with confidence. That drum can be real dangerous if it's not exactly right.

Also, great deal on the saws!!

long story short guys i didnt buy the chipper. The drum was way out of balance and he had cobble jobbed up some steel bracing on the motor. Didnt want to even touch the thing.

Congrats on the new buys. Love the process....The hunt....the kill. :blob5:

You ever look at "Tree Trader" mag for buys? I have got a number of things from it.

I have the option of buying a new chipper and stumpgrinder from a tree business who is selling out. He has a 1999 rayco 1625 super jr stumgrinder with 418 hours with trailer for $3225. The chipper is a 1991 mobark 290 300 6 cylinder gas for 3225 also. what you guys think?

Some perspective. I nearly paid $6500 for the same stump grinder with 500 something hours on last year. I wouldn't delay!

You guys have all the luck! one time in England I rented a 6" Timberwolf it wasn't a very good machine however I did some damage to the bodywork so said to the guy who I rented it from who was the area dealer for Timberwolf that I would buy it as new, but he wanted all the rental on top of the new price. The thing was rubbish anyhow, so told him he could have his rental, and the money for a new (plastic) hood.

I was the proud owner of a 9" Greenmech a week later.

Nope never even been to the Cape. Been in the mid west my whole life. Tree trader prices seem high to me. Lots of nice stuff though. Ill hopefully get some pics soon.

Take the stump grinder if you need it... It will make some $ though it'll be a PITA on big stumps...
With the economy as is.. you might be better off holding out for a diesel chipper... hey , but take the gas for a test run if he'll let you... If you are removing big trees, then get a big chipper... diesel with a winch... better to have the right machine from the get-go, even if you have to pay a bit more for it... or you could buy the gas and re-sell it if it is really such as good deal as is said here.

well put murphy,,,, that super jr with the kohler is a dog, i owned that machine for a while, i hated it, Brush Bandit is all ive ran now for 15 years. Ive been around a vermeer wasnt impressed,,,,, go diesel bro,,,,MY 250xp with the 130 horse CAT is the cats ass, ha like murphy said spend a little more and get the best machine from the get go,,,,, less time more money,,, hell im a nobody on here so take my 2 cents if you wanna good luck PS. Dont buy that super Jr.
