The 510 is a good saw, (and that's a good price), but like most "junior members" of a saw family, it gets over looked in favor of it's older brother.

Kind of like how Eli gets overlooked for Peyton Manning, huh? Go Giants!

Yeah, you have to admit that the performance gap between the Mannings is a lot larger than between the saws!!!!

I think Eli will get better though! Maybe some muffler and porting work would bring him up to big brother's level.

That makes it a no brainer to me.

I would walk out with a new 5100.. Might as well play with porting a lighter more powerful saw to start with.
get it going so you can bring it back to Indiana for a fall wood cutting gathering..

510 NIB on Ebay Im sure I could get less than $225. There were two of them listed and neither sold with a starting bid of $229, and one had a BIN of $249, the other a BIN of $299. Now both are listed as regular aauctions, one is bid up to $107, the other has no bids yet.

But your logic does make sense, the 5100 is a better saw over the 510...who knows. Maybe if someone has a used 5100 for sale Id be all over it.
