Hello, all!

I am the :newbie: and, although I am not worthy  at this point, I need some help identifying a saw we inherited from my father-in-law. It is a Sachs-Dolmar. I took it to our local Dolmar authorized service center, but they cannot identify the model number to get the correct parts. The lady that runs the office sent me an email and said that the serial number is 777/084458. Is the model number embedded in the serial number? Also, I probably need to eyeball the saw again, to be sure the serial number is correct. I suspect it might be 111/084458, since Dolmar made a 111 model. Am I totally off track/out of luck? If so, :givebeer:

Many thanks!

ps: I posted this on an incorrect forum earlier, so I am reposting here...

Thank you!!!

Cuttinscot, I will have to go by the shop to get pictures to post this weekend. The shop is at least a half hour from home/work and they begin and end their day about the same time I do.

Elmore, it looks very much like that saw, other thant the color, of course. I am operating by memory. The last time I saw the saw (that sounds odd) was on May 5 when I took it to the shop. :(

As far as I can tell, it just needs new anti-vib mounts and a starter assembly.

Should I be worried that they cannot determine the model number? :bang:

Thanks! :D

Mine is a Makita DCS 520i a.k.a. Dolmar 111i. Most all parts from a Dolmar PS 540 are interchangeable or so I'm told.

Your saw is Quite a bit older than Elmore's. By the serial # its a 1987 Sachs-Dolmar 111 does it have a black hood? If its a orange hood it a 1986 model which used a different starter.

The mounts for the 87' 111 are (3) 965 403 280 2 on left side 1 on right rear
And 1 965 403 300 for the handle brace. all in stock like $6.80 each.

The starter in 1987 used a 2 started pawl style 2 pawls on flywheel that the recoil rotor engage into although in 87' the starter pawls were cut wrong and tended to slip then the pawls need to be replaced as well as the worn rotor.

The started in 86' was a friction type that had a rotor with a splined driver that spun toward the flywheel when the rope was pulled. It did not take too much to mess that one up maybe why it was only used in 1 years production.

Here is a pic of a 1987 SD111 sr #111088496

Now why is that saw sitting on a stihl box?

Could it be that both Stihl and Dolmar use the same German box company? They don't make their own boxes? All this time I thought that Dolmar boxes were superior to Stihl boxes! lol
