I'm trying to get a 7900 back together tomorrow for a buddy, and I cant find the heat sheild that gooes behind the muffler, will not having this affect the airflow around the Jug?

I think I read on here that it reduced radiated heat from the muffler back onto the cylinder. It wouldnt take many minutes to whip one out of either steel or aluminum. Good use for that cracked aluminum shovel.

small point

plus the plate acts as a shroud to prevent a "short circuit" in the airflow, where high pressure air flow, coming off the fan would try to escape out past the muffler opening rather than wend around the cylinder. (radiation being as powerful as it is, the shield function probably being the more important concern ... but without that plate as an air shroud the cylinder would probably not get its design air flow, maybe even only half-? )

I believe the ductwork functionality is the primary purpose.
