I'm also interested.  As to the power specs we'll just have to take their word for it (as with all the manufacturers).  The weight will be easy to check.  I hope they clean up their act and state the actual weight of an actual saw that's ready to use in every way except for fluids and the bar/chain.  Stihl really has got the high ground on that one.

Yeah.  I guess about like ricksvar and chain oiling.  Can somebody tape a quarter on me so I can get past it?

I wish I could provide the date for the news saws but at this time we just dont have all the questions answered and ready to go. I like to think that these saws will be available when everything is ready to go. Like the old commercial we will sell no wine before its time. Sorry for the delay but rest assured there will be no oil leak with this family of saws.

I just got a new Makita 6401 for $351. It reminds me of the alien in Alien. I'd love to get a red little brother for it.

540

Just a little experience I had with a Dolmar this week. Ordered parts for a 540 ran with no oil in fuel. Ordered piston, rings, pin and locks. First off, KID on the other end was not sure what a piston was, I had to explain it to him,(a distributor, no less!) He said all parts came separately.

All parts ordered. Four weeks later, no ring. Thanks to Dan, I found out an 032 ring is the same. Problem solved.
Get parts, open box, piston is complete with ring, locks and pin! Dolmar won't get far with this intelligence running things.
I learned my lesson, next time, Dan will be the first call.

Oh, by the way, they are starting to come in my door because the local dealer sells only. I am looking at it as a business opportunity. A PROFITABLE one.

You know I too have run into someone on the phone that did not know what the products for the company they worked for, but I tried to not base the whole company on some KID. As the old saying goes, a bad experience and you will tell 13 people and and good experience you only tell 3-4.

Parts

Don't think for a minute this is only a Dolmar problem, a few weeks back I needed a set of rings for an 044 after calling 8 Stihl dealers [ I would bet each one has been in business 12- 15 years] I was asked why I needed the rings, I informed him that they were worn out and they had about 3/16 end gap. I was then asked what end gap was and when I explained it I was informed that 044 rings did not wear out, but if I wanted them they would order them.
On a lighter note I sure get a kick out of the new Stihl ad that has the kid from Lowes is at the H. dealers getting instructions on how to start a saw, its been on the Great Outdoor Games

The wait is the hard part, you have to have a saw to work with and work doesn't wait. So while I wait for the small saws to come out , I had Danny Henry do up a couple of Husky 346's for me. It would be nice to have a couple of the Dolmars to go with the 7900's Danny did for me but work doesn't wait.

distributor

I can't argue the uniformed at a dealer, I know it happens.

But this was a distributor, a place where the dealer should be able to get his info. No excuse for that.

Slow 540

Did you get a chance to run that slow 540 that Chris has? Try it, I am sure that you will like it. Don't forget to send those muffler covers with Papa.
