when you get a customer that wants to keep good logs, yet wants them "cut to firewood length, and stacked or yonder" what do you do? i sell alot of firewood, and have a mini skid. so to me, i want the wood, and dont want the hassle of raking all the dust. its quicker and more profitalable in most situations to just take it. what do/would you do? granted, your co might not be set up like mine. also , were not talkin bout willow, pine or related junk wood. opinions please.

Charge appropriately for your time to cut up his firewood logs. Plan it out too so you don't make more work for yourself. If you really think you need all of the wood from all of your tree removals you may need therapy. LOL!

Small quantities I'll just cut it up and not worry. Large amounts of wood... you pay. Lately all I've been doing is cutting logs to anywhere between 4 and 8' lengths, pile them up somewhere, or get rid of them.

Yes yes and yes!!!!! i dont just want the wood, I need the the wood!! Yes, I know I aint got it all up stairs, but if I make more $ off selln wood than cuttin, and it takes me longer on the job, i just wana get done quicker, ok im not makin sense no more cocktails n beer kickin in gota snooze ho[pe more calz come in

I offer a drop and leave lay price, a cut and stack price and a cut and haul price. I let them pick whichever option they want. It's usually more profitable for me to leave the wood. I am not into cutting and selling firewood, believe me I have tons of it coming out of my ears. I give away all the wood I can to keep from having to haul it.

Drop and leave is the cheapest, drop and cut to firewood length is next, cut up and stack is close to or the same as drop and haul out. Unless it's a real small tree it's just as much work and I don't get the wood.

to me the economy is the problem. I sell a ton of firewood and at the begining of the year had 7 companys bringing me wood. around may everybody went dry and stopped bringing me wood. what i hate is when the customer thinks there gonna get you to do it cheaper if they keep the wood but want it cut to length, and stacked half a yard over. Before i had the mini skid, i loved that sit, but now i love my adult video games. im not payin 400 bucks a month for that thing to sit in the yard. saws/chains/backs/log cars cost big$$doe when you aint makein beans. Point is, i dont knw ur sit, i need logs. i aint makin deals for wood to stay if i can get out quicker with the mini and deal withe it later/make more dough when there aint no work, i.e. jan feb. i sell wood all year long. I highly appreciate all your comments on all subjects, and have a tendancy to get long winded, just want you to knw where im comin from. I also would put way more posts on a lot of threads, but most of my ideas/thoughts have been posted by someone else before i get to it. I have a feeling that im looked at like somwhat of a jacklegged hack on this site, but i know im not becuz some good guys pm me and carry good conversations with. if you dont like me well im sori im a jerk. but if your an idiot im sori that i cant fix stupid

Just come by our office. We got a ton of wood sitting here waiting for someone (anyone) to take it away.

About 20 yrs ago, they banned the installation of wood burning fireplaces in new homes due to air quality concerns, so there aren't a lot of people who burn wood anymore. Tough to give away.
