Fellow has one new in box he wants about $150. I was thinking of it as a small limbing saw. Anyone have experience in these. It seems a good price.
Echo CS 310 a good buy for a small saw?

Get a 352 instead. Steve
Not powerful, not fast, but nice light saw for trimming and occasional use. Agree - the Echo 352 is a better saw but 2x the price as that 310.
Steve, he doesn't have a 352. He has a 310 for sale.

I have had a 310 for several years with no problems. A good little saw for smaller wood but you may want to go with a different chain.
It's not a powerful saw. There are saws about the same size and weight with more grunt, but not for the price. If it fits a niche for you, it's a good buy. It's a great ATV or tool box saw. Good for limbing or cutting up old decks or fences. New in the box for $150 you really can't go wrong. They are about $220 new. The 310 is being phased out for the 3010 but I like the 310 better.
True, but choices are limited unless you spin your own. OP didn't state the bar length but the stock Echo bars use odd chain sizes that don't match up with Stihl or Husky. They are always one link off.
I got a 310 a couple months ago because I wanted a small light saw for that kind of work. I quite like it- particularly after tweaking the carb to make the top end a bit more lean- it was dead rich against the stop out of the box. It doesn't turn the saw into a powerhouse but it did add a bit of rpm and grunt so it doesn't bog as easily. So I'd totally suggest checking the H adjust to see if it can be leaned a bit.
The oem chain was awful.. .tossed it after one afternoon- even the well-used home depot green label Oregon powercut I threw on the saw is better. I have a versacut to go on once thats worn out.
Its got me thinking about one of the bigger echo's to go with it. I guess I should restrain myself- my dad is giving me his old Stihl 27 at some point soon. I suppose I will probably "need" 4 saws eventually but I'm sure I could sell my wife on it more easily if they don't show up all at once lol.

The 310 is on my 4-wheeler every time I leave the house, great little saw.
I probably got a 100 hrs on that saw for trail maintenance and would buy another one tomorrow, no issues.
