Cs4910 what's the real difference from cs501P. I've attempted to answer PN wise but interested in comments. What's the deal on cs4910 Oil Pump (7310 cross-over PN).

cs4910: $379 msrp
vs501P: $549 msrp

How the cs4910 ports up is well addressed here on AS & the other forum. Just seems some myths on select few PN difference.

So I see $170 in upgrades if dead set on Aluminum Frt Handle & Unlimited Coil plus Pro-Lite Bar, Recoil Pulley difference & Captive Nuts. And, the X-series decals compliment.

Something curious.. cs4910/Shindaiwa 492 are shown to share cs7310 Oil Pump PN. Wow, that seems like alot of pump capacity. While cs501P & cs490/491s are a different PN.
-- are there flow rate differences? The 7310 pump thing bends my mind.

Something of minor PN difference on the Chain Brake Latch. Prehaps a firmer detent on 501P.. my guess. Same brake handle assy, bicycle tie link & brake band loop.

IPL's reflect different Rear Handle/Fuel Tank PN. Figure as cosmetic plastic difference or molding beefyness. Same trigger & cover pieces at glance.

So are 'both' 50.1cc performance identical except prehaps Ignition Coil influence (unlimited & maybe more advance curve) ?

Other past comments state cs4910 single piston ring, but don't find true in 490/491s 4910/492 replacement PN data. Shown two rings common to 501P.

Cylinder, Piston, Rings (2), Crankshaft, PTO Bearing 6202-3C, Flywheel, Muffler, Carb WT-1141, Intake, Air Filter are the same as 501P in model compatibility ... according to PartsTree IPL.

For engine crankcase IPL the one PN exception is the FW Bearing classification. Although other information suggests both now 6201.

Watch am I missing. Negating bar & chain a person could update cs4910 for about same money as cs501P nib.

So maybe also says buying a 501P is the right value. Especially as cs4910 become NLA.

Locally have seen clean low hour cs4910's on market for $200 - $240 at Dec'24. Below half price of cs501P new.

Oops, maybe should move to Chainsaws instead of Homeowners Help.

4910 isn't in production anymore, replaced by 4920:

Yes, that's true but some available in retail inventory. Not recommending Home Depot but they still have some & Online sellers.

Central Indiana show 26 units of cs4910 at HD in-stock. Just saying. Great buy.

The point.. cs4910 come up for sale surprising frequent. They seem excellent for the money... very similar cs501P

Very interesting data, especially the oil pump. I am very curious about the single ring piston. I would swear the 4910 was one ring. Personally I like the styling of the 4910 over the 501p so you can keep the stickers and the stylish plastics.
It seemed to me that if I got the 4910 and started replacing parts with 501P parts, I would spend nearly as much as the price of a 501P.
In that case you just upgrade to the 501p parts if you break things on the 4910. My 590 is about halfway there towards a 620p just from things I have broken during use. Not much difference in cost.

Echo CS-510P has a rim sprocket. Rim sprockets are smoother than spur sprockets.
My reason asking... real or myth.

IPL & photos absolutely show 325-7T Rim on cs4910. Not Spur. Granted is easy to update but seems Rim from get go. All manufacturer descriptions I found state Rim.

Maybe the Single Ring & Spur are not accurate of late model 4910's. And, Oil Pump cross to cs7310P just has me curious.

I don't own a 4910. Have 3 Huskys in the same class.

Found one in HD today. Only one they got, wasn’t shown as available at that store online. Thought about buying it before walking out. Was in a box so I couldn’t handle it to see how close it was to my CS-361P I got a month ago. Really like the 361P, maybe nostalgia for the simple saws I grew up with? My wife has claimed the 361P as her’s after doing some limbing last week. Maybe I’ll snag it if it is there in a couple weeks. They were rearranging the isles in that area and marking some things for clearance, there was a battery Echo saw marked down. /fingers crossed

If the wife claimed the 361P I'd grab the 4910 while it's there. The 4910 is a nice saw.

There’s two other HDs close by that show five in stock between the two locations plus one that says limited stock. Going to keep an eye out in the post holiday resets to see if any go to clearance. My usual HD got rid of all gas powered stock. Only carry battery powered outdoor equipment now.

Is there a ban in CO? I know there is one in CA.
I haven't heard of a ban coming. It seems like with so many HDs clustered, they've each got a little bit a differences based on the neighborhood. The HDs close to the foothills have tons of log splitters, chippers and larger outdoor equipment. 'Fancier' burbs have more design studio setups for kitchen and bath remodels. The HD in the industrial area seems geared to contractors and yard care companies. That HD has a ton of Echo equipment in stock.

My wife works for a small, mountain school district on the budget side. State government has to switch to all electric though. All equipment, buses through outdoor power tools have to switch over to electric. The local electric COOP has confirmed the current transformer drop can't supply the power needed to charge the bus fleet. The bus barn's floor can't support the added weight of the electric buses. They have outdoor parking, and current ranges at < 0 degrees is less than they need for a couple of their bus routes. The school can't afford the upgrades to the bus barn or new transformer, let along the cost of switching over their bus fleet. It is a mess. Mountain and rural plains schools are trying to fight it.

Planning our long term exit strategy from the state, but the Californication is coming for every where we'd like to live.
