I have 20+ running saws including 16 Stihls, but today's task called for my only two Echos. I used my cs2511t to cut saplings, woody weeds and vines that I could reach from the ground. To cut the overhead vines as high up as possible, I fired up my tt24a, complete with its optional extension (16ft 9in total length extended),

Twenty-five CCs for the top saw and only 24 for the pole saw. Guess which one takes more muscle to run! Each has its place, and, together, we got the job done. Thanks for watching! O

I notice you took the Echo pole saw apart in two pieces. That's a no-no with most Stihl pole saws because it's a bear for one man to put the two long pieces back together again.
I also own two Stihl HT75s and have had the pleasure of rebuilding the drive shafts, so I know what you are referring to. However, look closely and you'll see I did not take the drive shaft apart. I only removed the optional extension from the end of the telescoping part. Much easier to put back together! O

The one I had made later wasnt like that. What is that extra deal on end on main shaft?
I read about extra sections could be bought. Like up to 5.

Mine was PTT-261 260 if I recall. 12' 10" long and dry weight 16.7 book spec so no clue if right.

Can see in front of shelves on floor.

In my photo with the saw in two pieces, the foot-long orange piece is the coupling that is actually part of the extension. Here's a picture from the web that shows what the extension looks like by itself:

As I studied the picture, I realized that my saw (a garage sale find) had that coupling on backwards.

So I took it apart...

And did my best to reassemble it properly. It actually makes very little difference for me as I would only ever take it apart for transport. If I need a shorter pole saw, I have two HT75s from which to choose. I'll post more photos shortly. O

More pictures, as promised:
Echo (with extension) collapsed (12' 3") vs fully extended (16' 8"):

Echo collapsed compared to Stihl collapsed and then compared to Stihl fully extended:

I leave the extension in the Echo; if I need a shorter saw, I use a Stihl instead. FYI, the Stihl is definitely more ruggedly built than the Echo, but the Echo does everything I need it to. O
