I can get a good deal on this rope, but is it resistant to melting due to friction? Any knowledge about it out there?

From what I can tell, if the package doesn't specify "Arborist Rope," it is no good for tree climbing. Is that right?

I don't know anything about the rope, but after looking it up, it should have a respectable tempature rating, having said that, I wouldn't speed reppel down a 200' cliff with only a figure 8 or ATC or your reppaling device might burn right thru the rope, but for everyday tree work I'm sure the temp rating is fine. You might want to check out the stretch rate on it and diameter. The stretch percentage is double compared to most standard static tree lines. Also the 10.3 mm might not be ANSI approved for tree work. I always thought the rope had to be 1/2" or about 13mm for ANSI, but I believe there is exceptions to that rule. Personaly I'm sure the rope would be fine, but I'd be worried about the stretch part. That will wear you out quick if your body thrusting or foot locking up a dynamic (stretchy) rope. Unless your getting a heck of a deal, I would probably look into Arborplex, or one of the other standard, well tested, inexpensive tree ropes. Good luck.

I was at Oktoberfest all weekend singing "Edelweiss" while sloshing my liter steins on anyone dumb enough to stand within 10 feet of me...

Forget the rope and just sing the song at the top of your lungs.

That's crazy, boy. Didn't get into a scurmish?

No Skirmishes. Me and my friends practically own the local Oktoberfest, which is actually of pretty good size, anywhere from 1,000-10,000 people depending on the weekend and the weather. My buddy's parents are the event organizers, and all the beer tent guys know us cause we have been going every year, several times per year, for the last 8 years without fail.

I dont intentionally try to annoy anyone, but after 8 or 10 liter steins of Franziskaner Weiss Bier, we all get a lil sloppy. It's a hell of a good time. Plus it helps when your there with dozens of your closest friends. Rarely are there ever any altercations, and the stateys are real cool about the whole thing. It's a great GREAT time, and everyone in attendance is happy and sloshy drunk.

"Blossom of snow may you bloom and grow, bloom and grow forever. Edelweiss, edelweiss, bless my homeland forever."
