Hey all,

I'm looking around for a new saddle and have pegged between the edge and the ergo but am having a hard time finding all the information I want on the edge. Seeing as they have been made very close in comparison I was hoping to get the specifications on the edge and compare them to the ergo.
Some big questions I am looking to get answered are
1) can I replace the clevises with paws on the edge?
2) has anyone heard of a fall arrest option for it?
3) does it have adjustable D rings like the ergo?
4) Does it have the same kind of padding like the ergo? and is there a removable back pad?
5) etc

I really like the elastic waist band as well as the price tag on the new edge. It also looks like it can take some abuse and last more than a year or two. And the lighter weight compared to the ergo doesn't hurt either.

Any and all information will be very helpful. Even the littlest thing, because thats what makes a good saddle great.

Thanks

I have had my edge for a while. Never used a Ergovation. The D rings are not adjustable on the edge. I am not sure what Paws are but if they open up like a clevis I don't see why not. The back support isn't removable but why would you want to remove it any way?
Most conferrable belt I've ever wore. If I had one complaint it would be the bridge. I do all my attachments using carabiners and they get stuck on were the clevises attach to the bridge. Sherrill says they may offer a rope bridge option.
I also asked sherrill if I could use the petzl navaho srt chest ascender add on, on it and they said they wouldn't recommend it , but I plan on doing it anyway. I am hard on equipment and the edge is holding up well. It has a lot of adjustments that need to be dialed in. I have used my buddies navaho saddle and seriously prefer the edge. You'll have to get use to all those loops instead of rings to hang your gear off of.

The Buck ergolite looks very interesting and very similar to the edge besides the ergolite missing a gear loop on each side and the bridge being different. But I wonder how the edge has the added extra 1.8 pounds when they seem so very similar. Where did all that extra weight go? Man I wish I could compare all of them in person. Thanks now I have 3 pegged, hahaha. I was trying to eliminate one not add one.:msp_tongue:
The paws are those tiny rigging plates that you can attach a rope bridge with the dbl fisherman. its just my preferance over the clevises. You can see the paws on the ergovations rope bridge attachment.
I like the idea of the added back support with the removable pad and being able to throw in a pressure bandage in there instead of hanging one off the belt, or, wouldn't mind trying a cold pack in there on a hot summer day to see if it would be a good idea or not. But mostly for the pressure bandage though.
A rope bridge attachment option for the edge eh, hmmmm, would love to see more options for that. Did they say what?
Does anyone know if or where you could get paws with pre stitched leg pad attachment straps? That would be just awesome being able to swap out any cleavis' for the paws on pretty much any saddle.

I guess I am just spoiled. The local arb shop has a setup to hang from a rope and try out harnesses and arb knots and what not. I hung in a couple different harnesses before I bought the ergo. I was there that day for a couple hours trying and adjusting them to fit.

That sounds like one stand up shop. I may have to take my first trip down to wesspur for just that reason alone haha, hopefully they'd allow me to try some while suspended. Too bad they won't have the edge, but they will have the ergolite. :msp_thumbup:

Any shop selling saddles should have a rope for you to hang on (IMO).

I purchased an Ergo, with the "H" chest harness last year. Took me a little while to adjust to a new saddle (Not the saddles fault, similar to driving an unfamilar car). The more I wear it, the more I'm liking it.

Hung in quite a few saddles before choosing the Ergo. -Sorry, he didn't have an Edge.

Pricey, but how often do you buy a saddle?
