bought an OEM replacement rope for the 044 from ebay. lower plastic stop is not in the same position as the previous one. is there some trick to loosening and moving the lower plastic stop? is it crimped or glued? will not pull down far enough. thanks.

How old are you? Its a rope. You plan to PULL on it forever.......just put it together, and go cut wood, like the experienced woodsman, you are known to be......the woods await!
well, cap'n bruce again. glad you know everything. it's not just a rope. it's a rope with 2 plastic grommets crimped on it and I didn't want to F them up and not be able to return it if it was the wrong one. and I'm not an experienced wood cutter and never claimed to be. but I guess you've never asked a stupid question.

Welcome to social media. The scourge of modern times. Brush it off and move on.
It was confusing the first time for me when Elastostart first came out.
But there are different ropes for different handles.
The handle does need to stretch to accommodate the rope.
Thats the whole principle.
