I have to put in a bigger wood stove, the one I have had for 5-6 yrs just wasn't big enough. I had bought it over the winter yrs back off Craigslist because of an argument with my electric company.
The new to me stove has to be moved further from the wall, my connector thru the ceiling is 8" and I have 5 1/5' from top of stove to ceiling. Where is the best place for the offset? Two elbows turned back to back to 45's or 30* will work or need a small piece in between. Also where's the best place for the damper? My smaller stove had an air intake cut off no damper. This one doesn't have that.

You new stove doesn't have any air intake control or damper? I don't think I've ever seen a stove without.

My seat of pants is an elbow at the stove outlet and another on the chimney connection, pointed at each other with straight pipe in between. But not sure what you're describing.

I had to do the same with my install, I have about 4' of stove pipe straight off the stove, then back to back 45's to stagger it, then into the cathedral box where it turns to chimney pipe from there. Not sure if it's correct but haven't had any issues.

Thanks. That's what I was looking for and did.
AS far as no damper or air intake cut off/damper I was told it had something to do with emissions on newer stoves they want no smoke so they want them to burn hot all the time. This stove I just happened to acquire and it's only a few yrs old from a friend of a friend so I didn't have to pay a ton of money to replace the old one. I put the damper right on top of the stove as close as possible.
