I'm planning on taking several trees down on my property soon. I am going to be using the false crotch method to lower them in a controlled manner. I see several ways of securing the block and/or port-a-wrap to the tree using eye slings, loopie slings, or whoopie slings. I also have seen several sources online selling endless loop slings which have a much higher WLL than any of the others I mentioned.
My question is pretty basic but if I was to buy a 15ft endless loop sling could I simply wrap the tree more than once to take up the slack and tie it off with a calf hitch so I could properly rig the block and/or port-a-wrap. It can be tied off in the same manner as an eye sling correct? I probably don't need the added strength of an endless loop sling over a simple eye sling but they aren't much different in price and what does too much strength hurt?
