OK men, this is kind of a follow up to the saw addiction thread.

I was straightening up where I keep my saws the other day and I noticed my 644 Solo, (very quick little saw), sitting there and I realized that it has been quite a long time, (over a year), since I ran it. So, I had to fire it up to make sure it was OK.

So, who has got some rules or a system for making sure your saws don't sit too long, and all get a fair chance to play on the woodpile. It's probably not a big deal, service wise, since most of the mix oils contain stabilizer. But since this collection/addiction deal has most of us owning way more saws than we need, you got to find a way to run 'em all.

There ought to be some fun answers to this one.

Well I know I alway bring a couple to go do some cutting, and I always have wood beside my house. Recently I have had this problem with my stihl 025, nice saw but I have faster and newer toys now.

About once or so every couple of months I takem all out of the shed and fire up all of them. You never heard such a sweet sound with 20 or so running at the sametime. Though some see wood more often than others all of them get a chance to spit out the cob webs.

The stabil in the mixed oil generally states that it is good for 6 months or less.

My very old Jred is exercised at least once every month - the Stihl and Husky recieves enough use to keep them happy anyway.

My other saws don't recieve much use anyway - they are at least half dead.....:blob2: :blob2:

About once a month I fire up all the ones that live. Then proceed to clean them up (wether they've been used that month or not) Then fire them up again to rid of any moisture inside.

I normally take a bunch of saws with me when i go to the woods or woodlot.

I'll take the 372 and the 7900, the 5100, and the 066/660. I'll rotate them so they all get equal shine time in the wood. Everytime I hit the woods, I have a small saw (346/5100/351) a medium saw (365/371/372 and the 7900) and then the big one (either the 066 or the 660). Usually when I go to the woodlot, I take extras incase there is a problem with one and my buddy gets a chance to run something other than a 55 Rancher if he wants to.

When I go to the woods as of late, it is more for a chance to get away from busy life and spent time by myself. It also makes good practice/test sessions with newly modded, or better yet, newly aquired saws.

When I feel one hasn't been used in the one month cyle rotation, it finds its way to another home, via ebay or other resources.

If i dont use my saws for a bit..atleast once per month or more i line them up in a row.. and see how good my musician background is.. musical saws..make a tune.. when and if someone stops in they wont return. so that also cuts down on the door -to-door sales people
