Equipment sales down?

What's your take on the heavy equipment market? Usually, when I advertise equipment in the tree trader mag or in local papers, I get calls within a few days. But, I haven't gotten a single call on my Bandit 200+ brush chipper since I put it up for sale 4 weeks ago (see brush chipper section of Trading Post for info). I'm not sure whether to reduce the price or just hold onto it until spring.


There's no surplus of good used forestry equipment in the midwest - I often find myself driving a long ways or having equipment shipped to me when I make my purchases. I'm just baffled this time around. Is the economy really that bad out there where nobody is buying equipment right now? Things are still strong where I'm at but, not one single call on this chipper...

Could just be the time of the year, but election years are usually goofy. I think December/Jan will start to loosen up a bit.

one call in over a month...

It's been well over a month now and only one (albeit hardly serious) call on my brush chipper. Even after lowering the price, not even one semi-serious inquiry. I'd hate to think how much I'd have to lower the price now to start getting serious inquiries. I'm just glad I'm not desperate to sell.

I'd say the used equipment market is definitely dead - at least around here.

Our chipper sales in the city are almost non existent. We are still selling a number of machines in the mountains though. So 18"+ are selling well anything smaller is not.

That really makes me wonder then, I hope the sucker that stole my chipper ealrier this year didn't make **** off of it:censored:

Not really tree related, a salesman for the local Case-IH dealer said sales died 2 months ago. I imagine that holds pretty true for most bigger ticket items.
