Etched glass on wood stove door

I have a Hearthstone Homestead finally installed and running this season. My twins had fun holding matches to the glass to see them ignite while I was not home. (Yes they are in trouble!)
This has left spots of etching on the glass which disturb my view. Can I use cerium oxide and a small felt buffer pad without taking the glass out to fix?

Dude I think you have bigger issues than spots on yer glass. Good luck on the stove.
