My Craftsman 42cc 18" mini-3/8 91vx cuts real nice... needs just a bit more power to handle the 14" - 16" ones...

I was born with a wrench in my hand -- father was a pro mechanic... but have never donw something like this...

HOW??

Well to be honest your not going to gain much like stihls, huskies, dolmies do!
Poulans are basically desposible saws that are made to run too lean from the factory.(light bulb effect)

* you can take the baffel out and take a large flat head screw driver and enlarge the exhaust slot(s) the back of the muff can(deflects around to the front) and then richen the HS and maybe the LS needle untill proper fuel mixture is obtained*

*do a search "tuning a carb" If you are unsure how.
One last thing....You will still need to do a search concerning "muffler mod"
As this is only an over view concerning the matter

IF this is a brand new craftsman/poulan saw with the new style muff cans that crimped/ welded together.......find a new saw to mod as this is stupid hard to get apart. point blank....Its really not worth your time and effort for such a little gain if any with these cheaper saws. Get you a husky 350 or a cub cadet 5220 as these saws I know will mod very well(easy) and are fairly cheap to be had. hope this helps

Rubantin , what 14" - 16" ones are you talking about ? Have you removed the limiters and adjusted the carb on your craftsman ? Is your muffler black or silver ?

No mine is stock... about 7 - 10 years old? Black muff

i did a muffler mod on a 2250 poulan about a 8year old saw.the muffler had 2 slots in back.i cut a hole in the front and put a screen over the hole and covered it with a washer and welded it.richened the carb, tried a few cuts with it seem to help it out.also gutted the baffle and screen.
