Hi guys, smoked my old milling saw recently, my fault. I'm just about to ink a deal on a new husky 395. A buddy of mine told me that he has a stihl 045, says it is in great shape, long bar, havn't seen it yet, $200.00 takes it away.
Question: anyone know how many cc's? parts available? how long ago were the made?
Any info would be greatly appreciated

Remember: hot rods and chainsaws--no replacement for displacement

Displacement is probably 81cc. Made in the late 1970s. Many parts easy to find, but clutch side bearing with integral seal and chain sprocket now getting thin on the ground. Can be modded to rim drive which is easier to find, but it is a bit of a bodge. Should handle a 24in bar OK. Great for occasional use on big stuff, but I don't think I would use for milling. It should be possible to find 056 super for that money. Still a great saw though, but you wouldn't want to use it all day.

The 045 is maybe a bit small.. now if you were talking 045 SUPER I would have a different opinion. Hard to find the big milling saws if you short on cash. Folks don't junk 'em, they fix 'em. What kind of saw did you burn up.... is it worth fixing?
