We can discuss that after all the brush and logs are removed from the yard, all raking completed to homeowner specs, all tools and gear stowed and ready for next job, and the climber finishes a nice tall cool glass of freshly made lemonade.:D

Climbers that forget they are only as good as their groundmen and that no one goes home until the job is done!

That don't work for the Prima Donna's, like me.

Oh, and the Prima Donna climber who makes a nasty pile of brush and logs and then packs his gear and leaves (with a big fat check).

Actually, I'm getting better at that. I'm willing to stop and have a scenic smoke. I'm all for happy groundies.:)
It's the owners that tell me to make a mess, QUICK!

I'm innocent, I tell 'ya!:blob2:

Always amazes me that the people on the crew that were complaining the most were usually the ones breaking rake handles, tripping over brush they should have moved, complaining that the chipper was dull after they just threw a handful or brush mixed with rocks through it, whining that the saws were dull after they hit dirt. No doubt a good groundman is gold and can make a moderate climber look fantastic. Just a shame they are so few and far between.

Dog crap in the yard.

Not being able to back the truck right up to the tree.

inadiquate tools for the job.

I have been on both sides of this double edged sword. How many groundies can actually back a chipper????? Sharpen a saw???? Or fit a Whoopie sling snugly aroung the base of a tree???? Raking up crab apples sucks, so does dealing with the dog crap. But ya wanna know what? Set a line, tie in and get your butt up that tree and try not to look like a possum up there. My Groundie thought it was easy, untill I set a line for him and tied his Blakes hitch and sent him up in a little ash tree today after I had done two other trees in a drizzeling rain. Friction hitches do not perform well with wet ropes. (Write that Down.)
