Sorry, my photobucket account has outsmarted me...It won't show my new files from pics that my sister took when she came to work with me a few weeks ago. She was being her typical smart self and named them loggingtextbook a##hole (go figure), so maybe that's why, I don't know, so here is some work pics I had to link up. We have been cutting some really nice 24" to 40"+ Dougs in this unit, too bad the big ones were not available for a photo, I had to pack in a ways to cut the big stand, with no camera. My partner and I had to work close in a few spots, you'll see. The one pic is of me with my bar just going in is me cutting the far corner up before I go back to the side I am working on. We always have an eye on eachother though! My Dad is a pretty sharp faller to work with, I am blessed. I've had the chance to work with some knuckle heads that I prefer to stay three tree lenghts away from!

Here is some more pics, there is one of my sister long butting a fir with my saw, note the excessive pitch seams, not up to grade for #1 (ss/ssc) or #2 (is/isc)export. Two feet of wood can save a whole length from getting kicked out of the sort, into the domestic decks. They are really picky this year too.

nice, burvol!!

I'm guessin' your sis beat feet outta there pretty quickly, after snapping that fourth pic, eh?! Did your dad drive your tree with his?

Gotta love that P62!!!

Recently, I got to run Rotax Robert's P52, modded by Art Martin, and running his race chain, that will beat many a piped saw..but it's on muffler! One might fast saw it is!!

Great pics. Good on your family!

Thanks, I'm fifth generation, but technically fourth generation faller in our family. We support the timber industry, and the timber industry supports us!
Rbtree, he didn't drive it out, but it would have been a good one for it for sure. That is actually a 655 pro after Poulan bought Pioneer/partner's name with a p62 clutch cover on it. That saw is a beast on the stump, even the mighty 660 and 395 can't stump as hard as it can.

Ya, it was nice ground, I went back to the super steep highlead stuff down the road for a few days this last week. What a difference. The only thing is, you got gravity on your side for moving trees on the stump. Now I have two weeks off right during the start of Chinook season....darn!

Good pics. Douglas fir is fun to cut compared to other species. That looks like a good thrifty stand, bet you hated seeing it finished.

Are there any Chinook comming back? What river? The runs in the Rogue are pretty depressed. Lots of boats, not many fish. I think the sealions ate them.

PM me and I'll let you know Bushler  I really do not want to promote my favorite river online anymore than I have to. I do miss that stand, but I picked up a bigger piece 1 mile down the road (that is a lot thicker) to start in two weeks! Are you staying busy? I'd come your way in the winter if you ever needed some help.

Burvol, I understand fishing secrets. That doesn't happen here, the guides etc. have it fouled up. There was close to 100 boats on the lower Rogue today, and the sucess rate was aprox. 30 fish, I think they're counting jacks as well as mature fish.

I'll keep you in mind for cutting this winter. There's a couple guys ahead of you. One's family. Also, I have to rock a half mile of haul road or won't be doing anything after it starts raining.

I like your faces, A humboldt with a conventional "hinge seperator" in my owm words.
allmost like a dutchman..

Establish a lean and then tell that stump good bye!!

You must be talking about the one my sister is long butting. That one I've always heard called a "shelf". Not really desireable trait, but it happens sometimes when I am going for a really low stump on bad ground. I usually take one of my dawgs and pin it into the stump while I cut it out flush with the hot part of my bar, or clean it up so to speak, but like you say in this case, it was a leaner! Let er rip. That cut can screw you royaly if it really matters, I usually clean them up when they are crucial (if I even make one).

I was actually refuring to photo #36 where your pops and you are leaning on the tree. I have experienced with notches like that, seems that when the face commits the small notch in the but really pops the holding wood pretty good.

I do see what you are speaking of with the pic of your sis.

A little "snip" for preventing barberchairs. Don't always use it, sometimes it's really handy though, we have to flush butts anyway as well.

Oops, I was wrong. Here's Robert with his amazingly fast Art Martin saw, which is also a 655. This saw will usually beat piped saws...
