FarmerTec MS200t Chainsaw Build Thread

Failure around 37th tank with my build. I got a nasty scratchy sound when trying to restarting the saw, thought I had finally killed the all Farmertec build! First thought was the piston, broken crank, disintegrated bearings, dislodged circlip or broken rings. Surprisingly it was one of the springs on the clutch that broke at the hook.

So ... clutch springs may be another part to watch out for.

I heard from a subscriber. He solved an issue with the carb/choke by adjusting the carb spring. You have to remove the plate etc. I of course lost the eclip, that super tiny eclip at the end of the shaft. I think it worked, ii mean the choke link to the carb was much easier to move and I think it would have closed properly, had I not lost the clip I could tell you for sure. I ordered a clip. That way we will know if it fixes the carb included with the kit. Around 7-10 days. I get sick of that time frame. Wait, wait wait. It was an interesting approach.

Caber rings vrs Farmertec:

I put a set of Caber rings in 200t #2 just for giggles. #1 has the rings supplied in the ‘kit’.

After initial break in, the compression is nearly identical. 140 psi as opposed to 145.

Good a lot of them are not for some reason. I was told they came out of the box, see the box? Yes but each ring is signed, too. So your in good shape. I think the cylinder will do well with them. Can't say that about any other kit cylinder. They are so hard they cause early wear on the chrome.

My parts should be here this week, handle & carb. Looking forward to that. I took your warning on the oil cap, the fuel cap tested out. The list of things replaced grew.

Nice selection of metric grade 12.9 zinc plated cap screws amongst many other interesting fasteners.

Good fasteners are important. I replaced 98% of the supplied one and of course all the missing plastic type screws which you likely can only get from Stihl or someone copying them.

This is the result of the choke part swap. The angle is tight and precise. (The white piece in the back). It was not apparent in the choke comparison video. But it is here.

Choke flap wouldn’t stay closed on #2 at first. But after some use and lubricatation it is better.

Practice with the left thumb holding it shut while pull starting helps.

Lol, I hope I can just start it. Wait until I can compare these last parts and for a 46$ bucks including switch, you can operate it regular like. These parts need to be replaced to get that carb to operate normally. Only choke has been corrected so far on mine but wow the difference. It was nice to get the handle fixed too.

If you mean spend $46 to replace the Farmertec handle parts with Stihl bits, that’s not going to happen.

Careful study and judicious bending, yes. Piecemeal replacement, no.

Your looking at the chain catcher. Will require a file or Dremel. The hole is not in the best spot and if I were to force it, it might fail when I needed.

Trial fit required there. One fit the other did not.

And be careful on screw length. You don’t want it to pierce the oil tank. [emoji37]

I usually check with an ice pick for hole depth.

Use a crescent wrench on the flats to hold it.
