After going to the south side of Cabot, and looking over some timber. Figured it was time to make some sawdust....yup, everything was right where I left it.

The half Green Ash log was not on the bunk of the mill, so I guessed that was as good of a place to start as any! Think it would have been easier 'lifting' the whole log, half logs don't roll well......and the Green Ash timber is really hard!

Love this sawmill! Those chunks sitting on the 4x6 bunk material?? Yup, 2-1/2" thick Green Ash slabs, the 'stickers' and some 1x5 lumber! Fun stuff, by the way....Green Ash is really hard!!!

Another view of the 'junk'!!!

Happy Father's Day milling!!!! Whew, I'm whooped for this weekend....

I use a Sony a350 wide angle zoom lens, most of these were taken at about 18mm...and using ARW format.
I then convert the images to three different tonal qualities and merge them with PhotoMatix Essentials. Then take the photo back into Picsas3 and crop, sharpen, and add just a tweak to darken it back up.

I'll make some more slabs after work, maybe on Wednesday and Thursday. Then drop/flop 40-ish trees on Friday, mill some stuff in the afternoon...do it all over again on Saturday! Maybe I'll get a few more photo's to go with these?

Those pics do have some very nice detail and color. Nice work. I used to have an SLR, but let the ex have it in the big 'D'. I did some research and got a nice instamatic, a Nikon Coolpix 510. The zoom range is great at 24-1000mm equivalent, a 16mp cmos sensor, an ISO range of 100-6400 and it does full HD video as well. The down side is the lack of a fine manual focus. If it won't auto focus on what you want it to, you're just out of luck.
